    Ashwagandha is popularly known as Indian Ginseng.  Ashwagandha in Sanskrit means "smelling like a horse ".  Its fresh root smells like a horse's urine, and also perhaps because it is renowned for imparting the sexual stamina of a horse. Ashwagandha root is the herb of the ages. The species' name   Somnifera   means "sleep-bearing" in Latin, indicating that Ashwagandha was considered a sedative. Ashwagandha is a traditional medicine of India and is considered an 'adaptogen', a term used to describe herbs that improve physical energy and athletic ability, increase immunity to colds and infections and increase sexual capacity and fertility.
